My husband David and I enjoy our new home in Western North Carolina where we can jet ski on the lake, drive 30 minutes to the beautiful Mountains and the next weekend drive 4 hours to the ocean. None of my family is back in the Rochester area, so I have little reason to visit there, but would love to be in touch with some the people I graduated with. (02/07)

It has been a very busy 9 months since Hurricane Charley decimated our community on August 13, 2004. As a middle school principal, I was involved in getting schools reopened, and we spent 6 months sharing our campus with a sister school, whose building was demolished. Our district lost 6 schools completely [out of 20], and all other buildings sustained varying damage. The destroyed schools are now re-opened in modular campuses. It will probably be 5 years before all the schools are re-built.

In the process, our students and staff have had major loses in their personal lives as well; many are still homeless even now. Every day brings changes to our landscape as damaged buildings are leveled and new facilities begin to be built. Many homes still have blue tarps covering damaged roofs...and hurricane season begins again in 2 weeks.

I write this background information to set the stage. Last week I received a wonderful donation of $2,000. from Mercy High School - proceeds from fundraising activities during Mission Month. You cannot imagine the emotions that flowed through me as my dear Alma Mater reached out so generously to help my students and staff. The money will be used to provide opportunities for our school to do some 'normal' things for students and staff as we continue our journey toward recovery.

I credit Mercy High School for helping me become the woman that I am today, and now am able to pass the Mercy Spirit even more tangibly to the students and staff under my care.

God Bless all Mercians! (05/05)

I produced TV commercials in Los Angeles for many years until my 19 year old son was born. My online skincare business, Skinrefreshed.com, keeps me busy these days when I'm not at flying up to Seattle to visit Ben at school where he is earning his BFA in theater (acting). (04/05)
