First Day of School 2021

We’re all back together again! On Friday, September 9, 2021, ALL of Mercy’s student body… 6 through 12 graders… were back in the same building for the first time in a year! This very special first day of school was so meaningful for both the students and faculty/staff; it signifies our return as a complete Mercy family. On Wednesday morning, we welcomed all of our wonderful Grades 6-8 wildflowers back after a year at Mercy East. During the middle school welcoming assembly, Dr. D. did not disappoint when she played her signature song and got the wildflowers dancing in the aisles. Freshmen returned to school on Thursday with excitement (and a few nerves) as they started their high school journey at Mercy with a lot of team building exercises. Our 10th, 11th, and 12th graders joined us on Friday. There were many smiles under the masks as girls reunited with friends and new students enjoyed a warm welcome from other Mercy Girls. We’re so happy to have everyone back together, in-person for a wonderful new school year! At our Opening Prayer Service, we introduced the school year theme, Gather Us In. Christine Kvam, Director of Campus Ministry, used the words of this beloved hymn to emphasize for attributes of our Mercy community: Inclusivity, Action, Holiness, and Hope. All members of the Circle of Mercy are “gathered in” to join in this effort to honor and enliven these values of our Christian tradition and the heritage of the Sisters of Mercy in the year ahead.
