The Hello Girls Musical 2021

In November 2021, Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women proudly presented the Regional Premiere of a new musical, The Hello Girls, with music, lyrics and book by Peter C. Mills. From New York to Paris, from ragtime to jazz, The Hello Girls chronicled the story of America’s first women soldiers in a musical inspired by history. These intrepid heroines served as bilingual telephone operators on the front lines, helping turn the tide of World War I. They then returned home to fight a decades-long battle for equality and recognition, paving the way for future generations. The vision for the Mercy production was led by Elana Gizzi (artistic director, vocal director & producer) with Amy Marron behind the baton as instrumental director. Choreography was by Susan Tubolino with technical direction by Gordon Rice. The show stared 25 of Mercy’s finest young female performers in grades 9-12, along with young male performers from Greece Odyssey and Hilton. It was a smash success!
