Colleen Harrington, Class of 2000, was at Mercy from 7th grade through 10th grade. Sadly, her life ended prematurely as a result of a disease known as cystic fibrosis, just after completing her sophomore year. Colleen will always be remembered by her teachers as a hardworking student and beautiful young woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals, watercolor painting, and Irish dancing and she was a good friend to many of us here at Mercy.
We remember Colleen when we hold our annual Colleen Harrington Memorial Walk in May and when we present our scholarships each September. In June students are nominated by faculty members then selected by a review committee. Reflecting the qualities that Colleen demonstrated as a student at Mercy, each girl embodies the spirit of Mercy, consistently works to the best of her ability, and demonstrates a willingness to serve others. Each recipient will receive $500 applied to their Mercy tuition for this school year. In addition, their names will be inscribed on our plaque that hangs in the first-floor hallway.
On Monday, May 31, 2021 (Memorial Day), Mercy will virtually host the 22nd Annual Colleen Harrington Walk, Run, Hike, or Bike. We continue this tradition as a virtual event with a few changes. You will be able to participate in a 5K walk or run, 4K hike, or 10K bike at any time during the day, at any location outside of Mercy.
