Why It Matters
The financial support of Mercy is essential to empowering future generations of young women with the finest educational experiences. The actual cost of educating each young woman at Mercy is $2,000 more than what she is charged in her annual tuition. This benefit is given to each of our students as a way to keep our school affordable to as many people as possible. You make this possible.
With your help, nearly 50% of the girls at Mercy are able to receive tuition assistance. The young women in the halls of Mercy are tomorrow’s leaders – in technology, business, medicine, law, education, philanthropy, and the home. In a world of worthy causes, we reflect on the words of Catherine McAuley, “No work of charity can be more productive of good to society or more conductive to the happiness of the poor than the careful instruction of women.” The impact of a Mercy education is as immeasurable as it is invaluable. When we invest in Mercy, we are investing in the women of today and the future who will shape all of our tomorrows.Donate Now
Not every Mercy Girl comes from Rochester or the surrounding towns, some come from war-torn countries where they live in constant fear of ethnic cleansing and genocide. Two young women, who found their way to Mercy thanks to the generosity of donors have an incredible story to tell.
Mercy’s Cornerstone Legacy Society recognizes donors who have made a commitment to support Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women’s future through a bequest, charitable trust, gift annuity, life insurance policy, or other type of planned gift.
Planned gifts are critical in supporting Mercy – they help us provide the school with a sustainable stream of resources to provide financial assistance to more than 40% of our students, invest in the facilities, and recruit and retain gifted faculty.
Through the Cornerstone Legacy Society, Mercy has the opportunity to thank and recognize those alumnae and friends who have made the selfless commitment of a planned gift. By joining the Cornerstone Legacy Society, Mercy can celebrate the impact donors’ generosity will have on generations to come. With a planned giving commitment, donors can maximize their ability to meet personal financial objectives – and with some gifts, actually guarantee income during their lifetimes – leaving an indelible legacy at Mercy and with countless Mercy Girls.
