Celebrating Black History Month!

February 1, 2022

Today marks the start of Black History Month. Focusing on this year’s national theme of Black Health and Wellness, Mercy’s Cheryl Speranza Leadership Institute will be hosting parent and student discussions. Our Mosaic Civil Equity Club compiled biographies of trailblazing Black women for teachers to share with their classes. Our Black Student Union is honoring the month in several ways, including partnering with our African American History class to create a bulletin board full of facts and celebrated individuals, as well as hosting a week of activities – from arts and crafts to storytelling – to encourage and educate the entire school community. While Black history is infused across our social studies curriculum, Mercy welcomes Black History Month as an expanded time to learn, grow, and reflect.
