Friend of Mercy Sandy Parker Passes Away

June 7, 2021

This Saturday, the entire Rochester community lost one of its greatest advocates, with the passing of businesswoman and philanthropist Sandy Parker. Sandy was the definition of servant leadership and an example to all young women. She dedicated her time, talent, and resources to improving the entire landscape of the Rochester community. Sandy was a visionary, bringing Rochester businesses together and focusing on improving educational resources, the root of a flourishing community. Together with her husband, Dutch, Sandy began a scholarship program at Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women in 2013, offering opportunities for a world-class education to girls for whom it otherwise may not have been possible. Sandy’s dedication to providing girls with the foundation and support needed to grow academically and to pursue their interests has been life changing for the 14 current and graduated members of the Sandy Parker Scholarship Program. Sandy took a personal interest in each of the girls, following their progress and cherishing the time she spent with them. Sandy’s focus was never on herself, but on those around her and the community to which she contributed so greatly. Sandy will be deeply missed by all. We at Our Lady of Mercy send our deepest condolences to her husband Dutch, and all her family and loved ones. Ginny Ryan from WHAM-TV produced a heartfelt tribute to Sandy; watch it here: https://13wham.com/news/local/sandy-parker-remembered-rochester-business-alliance
