Technology in the Classroom Empowering every learner with the right tools.
At Mercy, we aim to create a community where technology is used positively, safely, and with integrity.
Drawing from our school values to foster a lifelong love of learning, we teach students to be curious and adaptable when making informed, thoughtful choices about technology. We strive to teach our students the skills and confidence to navigate responsibly and contribute productively as empathetic citizens in a digital world.
In the classroom, we believe the purpose of educational technology is to enhance and support teaching and learning while respecting our foundational educational pedagogies. We also recognize the power of educational technology in extending learning and its ability to provide experiences that might not otherwise have been possible.
Most importantly, we encourage our community to find a healthy balance when making decisions about technology use both in and out of the classroom.

Navigating AI Together: Guiding Principles
List of 6 items.
Humans Come First
We prioritize human insight, guided by empathy and accountability. When we engage with AI, it is a tool to enhance, never replace, human capabilities, creativity, and critical thinking.
Trust & Transparency
To foster trust and academic integrity, all AI use must be disclosed, cited, and aligned with Mercy’s educational values. No hidden shortcuts, just honest, transparent learning.
Learning with Purpose
AI integration must support deeper understanding, skill development, and meaningful engagement.
Critical Evaluation
AI outputs must be verified for accuracy and bias. AI can assist, but never make final decisions. Our faculty maintain full responsibility and use only approved, age-appropriate, and fair tools.
Responsibility & Ethics
We promote discussing ethical AI use, emphasizing original thought and an understanding of AI’s limitations. We are also committed to protecting student data privacy and managing our technology’s environmental impact.
Growing Together
We are all learners, students, teachers, and parents alike, committed to developing the digital fluency to use AI ethically and effectively, embracing curiosity as technology evolves.
