Why Mercy

Mercy isn't just all-girls, it's all FOR girls.

Mercy’s rigorous academic program develops the critical thinking, innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills needed to be successful in college, career, and beyond. No matter what your daughter’s passion is, Mercy is here to help her pursue her dreams.

Being a Mercy Girl means never walking alone.

It’s thriving on the stage, on the athletic field, in our classrooms, and in the community. At Mercy, you find a sisterhood that lifts you higher than you ever thought you could go.

All-girls isn’t about the absence of boys
it’s about the PRESENCE of strong women.

  • At Mercy, every opportunity is for girls.

This is a place designed just for her— who she is now, and who she hopes to become.
  • At Mercy, we champion the needs of girls.

Mercy’s talented faculty know how girls learn best. For nearly a century, Mercy has remained devoted to the education of girls and young women, and we continue to be the only private, Catholic, all-girls school in the Greater Rochester area.
  • At Mercy, we allow girls to be themselves.

Every girl deserves the opportunity to realize her full potential and be her best self in a setting where she is valued for who she is. Here, girls are encouraged to display their intelligence, ask more questions, and uplift each other in a nurturing and supportive environment.
  • At Mercy, we lead by example.

In a girls’ school environment, girls occupy every role, modeling leadership possibilities and fostering self-confidence. All-girls isn’t about the absence of boys, it is about the presence of strong women.
  • At Mercy, we nurture real-world success.

Students at an all-girls’ school are confident public speakers and communicators and are active participants in their communities. Mercy girls leave our halls as informed, ethical, and confident leaders.

Caeyln Ford, Class of 2025

"During our time at Mercy, our voices have not only gotten louder, our confidence higher, and our minds sharper, but our hearts have gotten larger. Not only have we been empowered to discover our voices, but we have learned that WHAT we say and WHO we say it for matters."

The Effects of an All-Girls Education

Research has proven girls’ school graduates display stronger community involvement, greater cultural competency, and increased political engagement.

They are also six times more likely to consider majoring in math, science, and technology and three times more likely to consider engineering compared to girls who attended coed schools.

For more information and research about the differences between an all-girls education and a coed education, visit the International Coalition for Girls' Schools.
