Financial Aid FAQs

Who can apply for aid?
Parents and/or legal guardians who are financially responsible for newly admitted or re-enrolling students are eligible to apply for financial aid. You may start a financial aid application while your daughter is in the admissions process, but you will not receive a decision until she has been accepted to Mercy.

When can I apply for financial aid?
The online application typically opens the first week of January. Because eligibility is based on need, we encourage all families considering enrollment at Mercy to apply for financial aid as soon as possible to allow time for any follow-up materials that FACTS may request.

How do I start a financial aid application?
The Mercy financial aid application is completed online via FACTS Management, and can be accessed at this link: https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3MK03

Who should I contact with questions on my application or to check the status of my application?
If you receive an error message or have any questions about the application process or your application status, please contact FACTS directly at (866) 441-4637 as they are best suited to assist.

What will I need to submit?
The application will ask you to provide information about your income from your most recent pay stub, your 2024 or 2025 tax return, and your 2025 W-2’s. You will also be asked questions regarding your family size, assets such as savings and investments, and expenses such as rent or mortgage payments and other debts.

If you have a child in college and/or a child in another private school, you will be asked to provide a recent copy of that school’s tuition bill or financial aid award letter to verify the net amount you are paying to that school.

If you are divorced or legally separated, you will be required to provide a copy of the agreement showing specifics regarding each parent’s financial responsibilities for the student. If both parents are responsible for paying tuition, each parent should apply for financial aid separately using only their total household income and expenses. If there is more than one adult in the household, income from both adults must be included in the total household income on the financial aid application.

What if I own my own business and I don’t have a W-2?
If you do not receive a W-2, you will be required to provide your 2025 tax return. We cannot accept your prior year tax return if you own your own business.

Is there a deadline for applying?
For early consideration, we recommend that the application be completed and submitted to FACTS no later than March 13, 2026, with all requested documentation. This ensures that you are awarded aid based on your full financial need while funds are available. Applications completed after the initial March 13th deadline will be accepted, but we cannot guarantee that funds will be available.

When will I find out if I receive aid?
Financial aid is awarded on a rolling basis by Mercy’s Financial Aid Committee as financial aid applications are completed and analyzed by FACTS to determine each family’s estimated contribution (EFC). The Financial Aid Committee takes into consideration each family’s application details and the recommended EFC from FACTS to make an award determination. Families will receive official notification of the Committee’s decision by email generated from the FACTS Financial Aid Management system and an updated enrollment contract in MercyLink, when applicable.

If we receive a financial aid award, what do we do next?
If you decide to enroll your daughter at Mercy, you will need to pay the registration fee in FACTS and complete any required MercyLink forms within two weeks of receiving your financial aid notice. Please note: the registration fee and tuition deposits are non-refundable.

What happens if we do not register by the deadline indicated?
If you decide to delay your registration or you do not register by the deadline, your original financial aid award will be returned to the pool to be distributed to other applicants. Your aid application will be reviewed again at the time of registration. Due to a finite pool of available funds and the desire to assist as many families as possible, we cannot guarantee that the aid award will be equal to its original amount.

We received our aid award, and I have a question. Who should I contact?
After aid has been awarded, if you have a question please contact Peggy Kenrick, VP of Finance (pkenrick@mercyhs.com), (585) 288-7120 x307.

What will tuition be for the upcoming school year?
The School administration and Board review the budget for the upcoming school year in January. The decision about tuition and fees will be decided at that time and communicated to families.

When will I receive a tuition bill and what are my options for paying the tuition?
Initial due date(s) for payment plans start in June. You will receive an invitation from FACTS Tuition Management to set up a payment plan in May and will be required to include a payment method for autopay by credit card or ACH.

FACTS charges a 3% processing fee per transaction to pay with a credit card. There is no additional fee for automatic bank withdrawals.

Each family must manage their payment methods on the FACTS account since, due to privacy and security protocols, Mercy does not have access to manage this feature in FACTS.

You will have 4 payment plan options to choose from:
  • Full Payment - Payment in full prior by June 1 or, if enrolled after July 1, within two weeks of the plan enrollment date in FACTS.
  • Semester Plan - Payment of 50% of the net tuition balance by June and the remaining balance in December. If you enroll in this plan after June, the first payment will be due within two weeks of the plan enrollment date, but the second payment will always be due in December.
  • Quarterly Plan - Payments of 25% of the net tuition by June, September, December 2026 and March 2027. If you enroll in this plan after June, the first payment will be due within two weeks of the plan enrollment date, but the subsequent installments will follow the rest of the schedule for the year.
  • Monthly - Payment in 10 monthly installments beginning in June. If you enroll in this payment plan after June, the number of monthly payments will decrease each month to have the full balance paid by March 2027.

Is there a discount for paying my tuition in full by July 1?
There is no discount for paying your tuition in full.

How do we handle the billing if more than one household is paying the tuition bill?
If the parents and/or guardians live separately and are both responsible for paying part of the tuition, please contact Peggy Kenrick as soon as possible. We will set up two separate billing accounts in FACTS and split the tuition according to your specific agreement. Each parent/guardian will then be required to choose their own payment plan and payment options in FACTS.

Do I have the option to pay Our Lady of Mercy directly?
All families must set up a payment plan through FACTS for automatic payments.
