The Theatre Department produces multiple main stage productions each year to enhance students' experience in a project-based learning environment. Students are encouraged to claim agency in every realm of theatre making. They may explore acting, dance, choreography, lighting and set design, direction, and stage management.
The performing arts curriculum begins in 8th grade at Mercy in Theatre Arts 8, a collaborative, creative, and confidence boosting course that allows students to enhance their leadership skills and explore the many aspects of theatre in a safe and encouraging environment. By high school, students have the opportunity to write, direct, and produce their own work.
The Dismas Auditorium is a 978-seat theater that includes state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems that give our young actors and technicians a colorful hands-on experience and an opportunity to bring theatre to life.
