Mercy Girl Stories

Anne Hurley Margulies '74

Anne Hurley Margulies ‘74 was destined to become a Mercy Girl.
Her three older sisters attended Mercy, and when it was Anne’s turn, there was no doubt she would join the “sisterhood.” She loved every minute of her time at Mercy.

While there, Anne joined Ski Club and worked on The Quill student newspaper. But it was Mercy’s world-class academics that really set Anne on her path to success. The rigorous and relevant coursework truly prepared her “to absorb information, study properly, and think critically,” said Anne.

Today, as Harvard University’s Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer, Anne says Mercy’s empowering all-girls environment provided the perfect academic setting for her and her fellow classmates to flourish as leaders. The single gender atmosphere gave her the courage to push herself out of her comfort zone, dig deep within herself, and take calculated risks.
“The values that I hold so dear now were forged in the halls at Mercy,” said Anne. “They have defined who I am as a person and have driven my success.”
